SOCIAL TRENDS
Ultimately, you will need to put a price on your innovation, even if it serves a more
social purpose. In this step you must rely on research.
Social innovation refers to the design and implementation of new solutions to solve
social or environmental issues. It represents a new way of doing things, breaking away
from the usual solutions and traditional methods in each context.
Current social innovation trends offering a lucrative business are demography,
sustainable development goals, urbanisation, migration, climate change, technological
development, circular economy, future of work, social impact, democracy, gender,
health, social distancing.
From poverty to education, health to the environment, there are many innovations that,
although caractherised as socially innovative, have minimal impact. A social innovation
business should, thus, focus its efforts on market trends that lead to a right balance
between an economic, social and environmental sustainability (see Module 4).
