What is a Social Business?
In the context of a social initiative, owners or investors can progressively recoup their initial
investment, but they will not be eligible for any further dividends. The main goal of the
investment is to use the company's operations to achieve one or more social objectives
while the investors are not seeking any kind of personal financial gain.
The business must make a profit, pay all its expenses, and at the same time accomplish a
social goal. Examples of these goals include helping the underprivileged access healthcare,
housing, and financial services, increasing dietary intake for malnourished children,
guaranteeing access to clean drinking water, and advancing green energy.
A social business' effectiveness is determined by how it affects people and the environment
rather than just by how much money it makes in a given amount of time. The company's
continued viability shows that it is operating as a business with the accomplishment of social
goals as its main priority.
